Introduction

The SigningHub API Guide provides information to enable customers to integrate their respective web applications with the trust services offered by SigningHub.

Intended Readership
This guide is intended for developers who will integrate SigningHub into their respective web web applications using the RESTful web services, and user interface offered by SigningHub. It is assumed that the reader has a basic knowledge of REST, Java, C#, HTML, JavaScript, HTTP and TLS/SSL. There is no Software Developers Kit (SDK) for the integration, instead the integration uses HTML Forms and JSON so that integration is simple from any language including .Net, Java, PHP etc.

Electronic Signatures
There are many types of electronic signature.  SigningHub allows you to create eIDAS Regulation compliant electronic signatures.  One of these is basic electronic signatures.  With these types of signatures there is no need to create user accounts in SigningHub for the signatory.  This is very important when integrating the power of SigningHub into your application because it means there is no need to create nor authenticate an end user prior to signing.  Read more about electronic signatures and eIDAS Regulation.

Digital Signatures
Digital signatures are a special type of electronic signature that use cryptography to create a mathematical based signature.  These most often use Public Key Cryptography to make this possible.  Under eIDAS Regulation digital signatures are how Advanced and Qualified Electronic Signatures are created.  More information can be found at digital signatures.  For SigningHub usage a unique user account is required to created a digital signature.  This is because the user must have their own unique private signing key and associated certificate.

Technical support
If technical support is required, Ascertia has a dedicated support team that provides debugging and integration assistance and general customer support. Ascertia Support can be accessed in the following ways:
A Product Support Questionnaire should be completed to provide Ascertia Support with further information about your system environment. When requesting help it is always important to confirm:

References to ISO PDF Standards
The PDF standard is owned and maintained by ISO.  SigningHub allows you to create ISO PDF compliant documents that are digitally signed.  A reference to the ISO PDF standard is available here:         http://www.adobe.com/devnet/pdf/pdf_reference.html.  This is the current 32000:1, which is sometimes known as PDF 1.7.  Version 2 has just been released but is not yet available for free distribution.  Ascertia will endeavor to upgrade SigningHub to meet the new and changing requirements of part 2, i.e. ISO 32000-2.

ISO PDF documents can be opened using any compliant reader.  This ensures any user and client thereof is never tied to SigningHub when it comes to validation of the signed documents produced using our service.
